About
Your sound. Anywhere.
Your sound. Anywhere.
A self- contained solar power generator, battery storage and stereo amplification system.
For busking, bringing your music to the great outdoors, entertainment and utility while camping.
It’s your sound, anywhere.
The system does not use speakers. It uses tactile transducer technology to directly excite the side panels of the enclosure, sort of an electronic Cajon. When positioned on its side the solar panels form a horn system to give increased projection and directional control.
The amplification is in the form of a class D unit, giving good power output with low power consumption. The frequency response is 100Hz to 12K with steep (12dB/ octave) roll offs beyond this range.
The EMP Box is made form Carb Cert. birch/ poplar ply (Columbia Forrest Products Pura bond). The sound boards are birch. The handle is maple, made from cut offs of industrial production.
The solar panels are high quality commercial units sourced from Mexico. The PWM charge controller is a best in class unit with widespread use in remote signage and lighting. It and the amplifier unit are of course made in China. The battery system is gel mat lead acid, it is a type widely available and used in UPS and emergency lighting. This type of battery has a deep cycle, no memory and is commonly recycled. This is unlike L-ion which is only theoretically recyclable. These choices are driven by a desire to lengthen this products life cycle. My hope is to keep it out of a landfill for 15 years.
